Laurie received her Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Texas Tech University. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, families, and sibling groups in a variety of settings, including private practice, for over 15 years. Laurie is certified in and treats insomnia and sleep disorders through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). She also specializes in personal health and well-being, life transitions, stress management, anxiety, and adjustment issues.
CBT-I is the most effective insomnia treatment, and is the first-line treatment for insomnia by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Seventy-eight percent of individuals who try CBT-I get significantly better quality of sleep. Sleep is the foundation for a healthy life and if you are willing to do what’s necessary, Laurie can provide you with a structured and short-term plan to help you retrain your sleep schedule and feel like yourself again.
Whether you are coming in for an insomnia cure that works, difficulty working through life transitions, or feeling lost and unmotivated, Laurie strives to create a safe and supportive environment while establishing a positive and collaborative relationship with her clients. She believes that each person’s journey is unique and will assist her clients with the necessary tools to use their own personal strengths to identify goals. She encourages and empowers clients to take charge of their own thoughts and behaviors in order to achieve personal growth and lead healthier lives.
During her free time, Laurie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, being outside, and working out.
